Hi all,Here I am writing after a long time & from a long distance w.r.t. to my earlier location. A lot changed in my life in these few months. Some things never expected, something always wished for & somethings which didn't turn out the way as desired, some new realizations & some new wishes. Didn't even ever think that I will end up on supposedly the coldest metropolitan in the world & a city which is probably the farthest from India. Didnt ever thought I will end up studying something like molecular dynamics & so much maths & physics. But you know I have realised that when we make plans the good god above all is actually enjoying because he has his own plans. He has something different in store for you, although I cant yet say whether it is good or bad. He creates some strange situations in front of you that you accidentally end up doing something not even thought of, and one of such strange but sweet incident in my life made me end up in Edmonton.
Anyways that is the story of transition. Wondering why the title of the blog goes like this? This is the range of temperatures I know I can survive, with Delhi as hot as 45 degree & Edmonton as cold as -45.
After a 30 hours of flight with a heart full of excitement, fears, anxiety, sorrow and many other emotions, I finally arrived to Edmonton, my new home for next 2 years. It started with meeting strangers & more strangers & more strangers some of which ended to be really good friends. First time I realized what does it mean to be fully independent! actually fully independent, which is just not about earning money yourself or doing what you wish to but something which includes buying yourself grocery, cooking food, washing clothes, cleaning your room, house, kitchen, washroom, shoveling snow, traveling by buses, making new friends and what not, it is just everything you can think of you have to do it yourself. And I have started to love cooking & even I tried skiing :P. Many people I meet ask me do you like Edmonton? and I have no answer, I wonder what should I answer. On one hand I have no family no friends nothing to enjoy here & on the other hand I got opportunity to study in such a big university.
Lets leave for the time being my life and talk about Edmonton, a really nice city with an awesome university. The city flaunts the third largest mall in the world housing a water-park, underwater aquarium ice skating etc etc. People here are so cheerful & helpful which I bet even Indians are not. I remember once I asked a girl to tell me the way to library & she came along me to drop me to library when she realized I was new & another good gesture. Have you ever said thankyou to the bus driver after getting down from the bus, sounds strange right? It did to me also but this is what Canadians are like. You will hardly see any Canadian frowning at you (exceptions are always there). What else? Yeah Edmonton is famous for canola oil production & oil sands (Alberta state in that sense) & if you love winters you will get plenty of it :P. If you are lucky you may spot deer on the roads. Oh! yeah did you ever wonder if in India pedestrians were given more respect then vehicles on road. And now comes university, and it is like what we saw in movies, you wonder what is not there in this University. This is supposedly the 4th best university in Canada, but I think it is the best. From infrastructure to food what is missing, there is even a small mall within a university. I seriously always had a dream of studying in such a university & that strange & sweet incident made it happen.
And as they say after winter comes the spring, here is coming the spring in Edmonton. Soon the snow is going to melt filling the color deprived city with colors of nature. So waiting for the flowers to blossom my next blog comes with those colors.
Keep smiling :)
