Easy vs Difficult

Read this somewhere....so true.....

Easy is to get a place in someone?s address book,
Difficult is to get a place in someone?s heart.

Easy is to judge the mistake of others,
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes.

Easy is to talk without thinking,
Difficult is to refrain the tongue.

Easy is to hurt someone who loves you.
Difficult is to ask for forgiveness.

Easy is to set rules,
Difficult is to follow them.

Easy is to dream every night,
Difficult is to fight for a dream.

Easy is to show victory,
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity.

Easy is to admire a full moon,
Difficult is to see the other side.

Easy is to stumble with a stone.
Difficult is to get up.

Easy is to enjoy life everyday
Difficult is to give up its real value.

Easy is to provide something to someone.
Difficult is to fulfill that promise.

Easy is to say we love
Difficult it to show it everyday.

Easy is to criticize others,
Difficult is to improve oneself.

Easy is to make mistakes,
Difficult is to learn from them.

Easy is to weep for a lost love,
Difficult is to take care of it so not to lose it.

Easy is to keep the friendship with words
Difficult is to keep it with meanings.

Easy is to read this,
Difficult is to follow it

Being an IGIT Mechie

This blog is dedicated to being an IGIT mechie. 4th year now, I am getting nostalgic about my college. So here goes my blog. You realise you are from IGIT & specially from mechanical & automation branch when:-

1. You thought you were very lucky to be a girl, since IGIT was all girls.

2. You counted the number of girls before your rank in the counselling.

3. You were proud of yourself coz u alws thought IGIT was best clg in d university

4. The day you took admission in MAE, people started sayin "Ladkiyan mechanical mein kya karengi" & you already had 100 reasons to support yourself.

5. When you starting telling your college name to anyone "Indira Gandhi.....", without completely people said IGNOU & u wr lyk irrrrr......

6. From day 1 u realised that Mech was the coolest branch.

7. U always waited for a good ragging & hated the same old salwar kameez dress code.

8. You always complained of 1st year teachers being partial towards MAE coz u felt it wasnt ur territory.

9. During the first year you were always eager for going to Mechanical Block, on the other side of the ground.

10. You always planned mass bunks, but were hardly successful once or twice.

11. You always thought people in ece & cse were extremely padhaku.....

12. Every time when Ms Freshers wasnt from MAE u thought that judges were biased.

13. You were very happy to see so many canteens in the campus but then realised none of them was that good & finally landed up on the chole kulche outside.

14. You loved the chilli nutrela of Vita, even tried making them at home, & were extremely diappointed when realised that vita was permenantly shut down.

15. You always thought you will start studying for minors timely, but fianlly eneded up studying just a night before. After the first year you hardly bothered studying for minors.

16. You always thought you will study in clg before d minor but all u did was gossiping & laughing.

17. You were always envious towards y DCE ppl have jst one minor & we had 2.

18. The first place you visited with your friends after admission was Janpath.

19. You were always proud to be in IGIT, coz it was famous as the only all girls engineering college.

20. During the first year you were involved in publicity, creativity, technical & all the teams of xebec, impulse, zenith & were putting posters in various colleges of Delhi, coz u thought it ws good fr ur resume.

21. You were always made to believe by ur seniors that you have to work for xebec coz it ws ur department's fest.

22. You always wondered when will Zenith take place.

23. Half of the Jan- June sem went in some fest or the other.

24. You hardly attended Anugoonj for more then one day after the first year.

25. The toughest subjects you studied were thermal engg, heat transfer & the only wish u had before its paper was of scoring 50 marks.

26. There were atleast 10 rumours each sem regarding results being out & everyone was running towards net lab.

27. You always had a lot of fun on holi in college & thought of making it the best holi ever.

28. You always thought y cant they just let us inside the girls hostel.

29. Whenever anyone said about 75% attaendace, you just laughed & said. yahan to 50 ho jae wohi bahut hai.

30. You had 100000 reasons of y u didnt attend class.

31. You alws enetered the class after the teacher did.

32. 25 Jan, 14 Aug, 1st oct were gazetted holidays for you reason being Metro n buses r not safe these days :D.

33. 90% of the time you went to university canteen was to eat your lunch.

34. You had spent more time on the wall in front of mech deptt than the class.

35. You had pleaded the xerox shop wale uncle to do your xerox first.

36. Surprise tests was nothing more then a joke & assignments were meant to be copied. Practical files were one of the biggest thing in demand a week before the pracs.

37. You always wondered y there was no loo in mech block.

38. After first year, you went to the main building just to give exam or for book bank.

39 Book bank was a place where, you knew, you will hardly be able to find any book but still went there every year.

40. The IGIT admin block was located in another world where you went only to payfees, collect marksheets, or some official work.

41. You never bothered to collect your admit card coz you know they will come & give it to u after uttering few harsh words.

42. You always thought there was nothing more difficult than studying in a girls college.

43. You soon realised that the other coed colleges in campus were of no good & any eyecandy was a topic of discussion.

44. You attended the Anugoonj auditions & cheered for IGIT, but never attended the main event.

45. There were more guys than girls spectating the IGIT freshers.

46. You heard someone or the other playing guitar in the campus,

47. The major hangout zone was McD at KG metro station.

48. You always were proud of MAE department for having the best placements.

49. You always wanted to get placed in some core company.

50. Found the corridors of workshop area best for studying for pracs. You always wondered whether the machine tools kept inside the workshops even worked or not.

51. You hated long queues for fee submission & tried atleast once to get it paid from inside the bank through some source.

52. You had max fights during these four years.

53. You always wished to be in a coed college, reasons are very well known.

54. You attended classes just for attendance. You pleaded to teachers for giving extra attendance.

55. Final year was meant only for placments , entrance exams & for fun.

56. You clicked the maximum photos during the last year.

57. Teacher called your name in the class for laughing or talking & said that you wont get the attendance.

58. Classes were meant for sleeping, solving coaching institutes package, learning Barron words, transferring songs through bluetooth, making sketches or playing games.

59. The day you attended classes seriously you realised that you actually get to understand something.

60. Every year there was a rumour that campus will be shifting next sem but it never actually did.

61. You always left one chapter coz you knew you will have choice in the paper. End sems were alws a nightmare.

62. You realised that u will miss college a lot during last year.

I want to add more points & will do so as I keep on remembering.

Is Silence a language?

Language was a tool developed by our ancestors to express our thoughts n feelings to others. We can write & speak to tell what we are feeling whether good or bad. But however languages one may know there are some feelings which can not be expressed in words. The feeling of happiness on achieving something, feeling of sadness on leaving something, a mix of these feelings etc. You can never express the feeling of happiness in any language but just a big colgate smile shows it all. Such a way you can never express your deep sorrows in words, a tear rolling down your cheek shows it all. Does this mean language is an ineffective tool. No, it helps you to tell the world reason for your feeling but cannot describe your feeling.

Is silence a language. I believe it completely is. But a language which only people close to your heart can understand because when someone is close to you then there is no need of words. Our mom's are the best example of this, even from kilometres away she can judge that we are not behaving normal how-much we try to. Many a times in life we want people to understand what we are going through without even saying a word. This silence is the best & the most difficult language. Best for the person expressing it & difficult for the person he is expressing to. It is this language of silence which helps us to talk to ourself. We dont need words always to say what we feel.

A language which has been provided to every living creature, Silence is the best tool of expressing yourself because people who cant understand your silence will never understand your words.

Priorities

I read an email few days back which left me thinking. The email goes as follows:

A Professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the Professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The Professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The Professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the space between the grains of sand.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else -the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The Professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Its not that we don't know about these things. We always know that our family is most important to us. But still at the end of the day before going to bed, I seldom wonder how much time do I give to my family. I might be going away from them in sometime then how much time will I have for them. 90% of my mind is occupied with my career issues, then how do I say my first priority is my family.

I don't know what I exactly want to write in this blog, may be its something deep inside me which always asks me "Am I happy this way". Within few months I'll probably be away from my family & my best of friends, meeting them just once in 3 4 months or so. Will I be happy that way. I know we always adjust to the conditions we live in but we somewhere forget what we always wanted. Why? may be because of better career prospects, better jobs, better money etc. I sometimes feel what is the use of money after which we cant stay up with our families, friends. What is the use of such job which doesn't even give a husband & wife to spare out time for each other or for their children. What is the use of such achievement which brings in jealousy between two friends. What is the use of such career which separates you from your loved one through the distance which can never be covered. Do we actually know the difference between what we need & what we want. Have you ever asked yourself "If I was a free bird what would I wanted to do?"

I am not saying we shouldn't concentrate on our career. May be I'll be the last person on this Earth to say that. Its just that our surroundings & peer pressure of the society has made us forget the difference between our needs & our desires. We want all what our neighbour has otherwise we will not be considered at par with the society. If I cant make it to the best college or best job it is just as bad as failing. I seriously sometimes feel I can relive my college life & make it the best time of my life & do all what I want to.

I seriously want to give the golf balls more importance then the pebbles & I wish I can make a balance between the two.

Placement Mania

May be I am a bit late in writing on this topic, but better late then never. As I enter this last year of my college, the very first question everyone used to ask was oye placement hui kya?? . I never realised when this question started haunting me so much that even in my dreams i saw myself giving Interviews.

The first company turned up in Oct, & without much hopes & positve thoughts I sat for that company w/o much preparation, & then (as predicted), I wasnt able to make for it. Months passed on & I started getting really nervous about the bad placement scene in the college. Our discussions in the college changed from food, outings, movies , guys etc to placements :P. Around the end of 2009, news came that companies will be coming & everyone started gearing for them again.

The first one was a pool campus & there were sooo many students. May be this was the only time I saw so many students together after anugoonj. Anyways, so many students all dressed up in formals, it was a completely different experience to be a part of pool campus. Then started the preplacment talk, which I believe is meant to make you believe that this is the best company which ever existed & you would be the luckiest person on Earth if you get the job. I am sure every student sitting in that was just waiting to give the exam & know the result rather then listening to what they were saying. The presentation ended & we were directed to a room for the test. The test to my surprise was very easy & went very well. This followed a longgggggggggggg wait, a wait which was actually causing butterflies in your stomach. After 3 long hrs they came out with the results, 4 sheets of selected students and started announcing the names. With every name the heartbeat went up & down as if you were sitting on spacejump in an amusement park. 3 lists went by, & I started getting more & more negative with me actually shivering. Finally, my name came & that relief expression cant be described in words. Anyways, we were asked to report for the interviews the next day.

The next day started with a heavy fog, the reporting time was supposed to be 8:30 but due to fog I reached at 8:45 & there we were told that interviews will start from 10:00. A team of 10 h.r. people came for the interviews & the first 10 students were called. Everyone except a very few came happy out of the interviews, saying that it was a friendly interview, they will make you comfortable, don't go into that panel the hr is very rude.....so on were the statements being heard. Then came my turn & I was directed to my panel along with one more candidate. Already 3 girls were waiting before me. The best part of that last waiting line was that everyone there was shivering not because of tension but because of cold.

Finally after another 1 hr, I went for my interview. Trying to be formal, I wished him Good Afternoon & he politely asked me it was a long wait na??? I suppose he must have known what I wanted to say :P. I gave him my resume & took the seat. Then followed the first question, what did you do in your trainings & I replied. Then the second question "What is your final year project & immediately after my answer next followed "Do you think that company will accept your proposal?" I was assuming it to be a very serious kind of interview, but then came the best part "How a hybrid car works, did you watch 3 idiots?" yes sir I did. Can you tell me if we can drive all day long & then use the energy stored in the battery to power our house." A strange question But it went nice. And lastly followed "Do you want to ask something". Yes Sir, How will the environment be different for a person coming from Delhi, after throwing the question I thought why did I ask this silly question. A very friendly reply came from his side "You will have to eat idli. Do you like it" & I said "No Sir, not at all" & he replied "Then develop a habit of eating it". This was the best thing I could have expected before the result. I was 99% sure that I was selected. Relieved from the tension I finally ate something at 4:00 in the evening. The results were announced & hence I got my first job.

For me the experience of my first job interview was good, because I finally got selected. I thought I would be very happy & indeed I was, but for few friends of mine who were not selected I felt very bad. At such moments one find really difficult to console others because we know that we cant do it. This is I suppose friendship or may be the very basic human nature, that we want everyone around us to be happy only then we get the real joy. Anyways I wish all my friends get placed soon & then we will surely party hard. :D I also want to write about my second job should I ???? :P

Welcome Note

This is me Sampada Bagai, who never thought she would be writing a blog because she personally finds this work really boring. But it doesnt takes time to change your likes and dislikes, so here I am welcoming myself in the world of blogging. This thought of bloggign makes me wonder, how do I start blogging? What should I write in my first blog. Finally, I decided that I will start with writing about myself (the first question in HR interview, which I was preparing these days for).

As I have already mentioned, my name is Sampada Bagai & I am in final year of my B.Tech. I like travelling, photography, eating different kind of food, meeting new people & sleeping (this is a favourite for all engg students). I just another girl next door, who loves to be with her friends always & loves to play with sand on the beach and yes like every other girl I can talk for endless hours, except when I am tensed (which i am 80% of the time). My friends say they like my company, so I can consider myself to be good :P. So this was me, a bit cheerful & a bit depressed, bit crazy n bit intelligent, I am cute & sometimes annoying, I am active & sometimes lazy. I know I am not what I wish to be, but I still am what I need to be & so I am happy the way I am.

I think this is enough for the first blog. I would welcome any comments :P.

Keep Smiling
Sampada :)
